Liposuction of the Neck

Many people develop excess fat in the neck and beneath the chin which gives them a heavy rounded appearance.  Liposuction of the neck, a procedure done as an outpatient with a local anesthetic, can reshape the neck and the area under the chin to create a more pleasing appearance.  This procedure works by removing some fat and also by creating a thin layer of scar tissue beneath the skin which helps to tighten the area.  It is most effective in younger patients between the ages of 35 and 55 and there is only 3 – 5 days of downtime.  Patients with significant skin laxity or prominent salivary glands may be better treated with a lower facelift.  Dr. Hofmann can discuss this with you and make appropriate recommendations.
